Obtained an MBBS from the University of West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago, and graduated in July 2002. Worked in the Pediatric Department at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, Trinidad, and gained invaluable experience and clinical skills before leaving in 2008 to join a Pediatric Residency at the Jersey Shore University Hospital, New Jersey. During the last year of my pediatric residency I was the Chief Resident and received a number of awards for teaching. After completion of residency, I then went on to become American Board Certified in General Pediatrics and to become accepted into a 3-year Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Fellowship at the Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond. I also successfully completed this fellowship in June 2014 as well a Masters in Public Health. I also recently successfully passed my American boards for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (May 2015). After completion of my training abroad, I returned to Trinidad and have been working as a Consultant for approximately a year and have been trying to improve the care of patients there.
